Normal library opening hours are as follows:

Lending Services:
Books; Paperbacks; Large Print Books; Compact Discs; DVDs & Children's Videos; Spoken Word on Cassettes and CDs. 

Other Services:
Reference Books; Stamps for sale; Meeting Room;Computers with Internet access*, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, database and presentation software.

* Internet Access is available free of charge for the first hour then is charged at a cost of £1.50 per hour or part thereafter. Guest charge 50p for half an hour and £1.50 per hour or part thereafter (excluding under 16’s or exempt borrowers).

Call into your Customer Service Centre in Thorne library to discuss issues which affect you in your neighbourhood. The centres provide you with a face-to-face, one stop shop for Council services in a welcoming and friendly environment. While you are there, why not take advantage of the library's extensive services.

The Library and Customer Service Centre can provide information/access to:

  • Champion Sports Passes and Leisure Passes (under 60s only, over 60s available from you local Sport Centre)
  • Community Safety - through Community Safety Wardens 
  • Computer services - Internet access, CD-Roms, Word Processing 
  • Dog Wardens 
  • FLAG - Flytipping, Litter, Abandoned Cars and Graffiti 
  • Grounds Maintenance - grass cutting, trees etc 
  • Homechoice
  • Loans of books (including large print), DVDs, Music CDs and talking books 
  • Parks and Play Equipment 
  • Pest Control 
  • Photocopying, Faxing, Scanning facilities  
  • Public Toilets 
  • Recycling, Household Waste Recycling Centres 
  • Reference information 
  • Safer Neighbourhood Teams 
  • Street cleansing 
  • Talks and events 
  • Waste Collection service 

A room is available where you will be able to discuss your business in private. If you run a community group or other organisation, why not book our meeting room so that your group can meet or access more advice at this centre.

We have also provided a display area with leaflets and posters to enable you to access information yourself.
