Murder Mystery Murder Mystery

There’s been a murder and it’s a mystery!

We need your help to catch the killer…

Our Turn the Page Literary Festival event for July will be something a little bit different – a Murder Mystery Night!

We’ll set the scene and provide you

with 4 suspects. You’ll need to bring your best listening and detective skills to work out ‘whodunnit’ and why. You can be sure there’ll be plenty of ‘red herrings’ along the way and, as a reward for helping to catch the killer, there’ll be a prize for the top detective!

So, if you enjoy a good crime story and would like to put your little grey cells to the test, join the Literacy team for a fun evening at Doncaster Central Library on Tuesday 10th July from 6.30pm.
Deerstalkers & pipes optional!
Tickets (£3.00) are available from the library or contact us to reserve your place on 01302 734315 or email

We’d like to welcome back crime historian Stephen Wade.

His new book Murder in Mind is a selection of some of his favourite crime stories from the past, mixed with a memoir of growing up in Leeds. This fascinating talk will include references to some Doncaster stories, including that of his namesake, Stephen Wade, the hangman, and to more general tales, such as that of Jane Austen's aunt, who spent some time behind the walls of her local jail.
