Join us at the Central Children’s Library every Thursday for our weekly Book Chatter Book Play session.
We’ll have lots of fun with stories, songs, and rhymes and then stay and play with toys and activities. 1.30-2.30pm, suitable for all pre-school children.

The Central Library has the following departments:

- Central Children's Library
- Facilities are available for meetings, exhibitions, talks and there are special activities and events for children in the Central Children's Library. See the Library Events Calendar web page for details.
- All departments offer internet access. Library members can have free internet access for two hours a day after which there is a charge of £1.00 per hour or part thereafter. Guests are charged 50p for half an hour and £1.00 per hour or part thereafter (excluding under 16's or exempt borrowers).

The Central Children's Library has now moved on to floor 1 of the main Central Library.

Other Services: Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database and Presentation software, CD-Roms, Meeting Room/IT suite for hire, Fax Service (sending and receiving), Photocopier, Scanning Facilities, Study area and study rooms.

Available in the Central Information Library
Ordnance Survey mapping for planning applications and building regulations
The Central Library is now able to provide ordnance survey mapping for customers applying for planning permission. The maps can be supplied as either paper prints or electronically as a PDF. We are able to offer a range of scales in both site plans and location mapping. Prices are competitive and customers will have peace of mind that they have an up to date map with the correct licensing.
Mapping is available for any location in England, Scotland, and Wales.
VAT is charged at the current rate on data purchases. Paper mapping is VAT free. For more information see the document attached to this page.
Central Children's Library
Any child from 0 to 16 may join the Library. An application form will need to be countersigned by a parent or guardian and proof of identity will be required. The Children's Library offers:
Books, Paperbacks, Large Print Books including storybooks, Poems, Jokes, board, picture books, touch and feel, lift the flap, DVD's & Videos, Spoken Word Cassettes.
Reference Books, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, database and presentation software, school visits.
*Activities at the Children's Library include:
Storytelling, craft sessions, the annual Summer reading game.
The Lending Services offer:
Books, Paperbacks, Large Print Books, Music CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray Discs

Services for Visually Impaired People
We provide a free confidential transcription service. Printed documents are transcribed into an accessible format: Braille, audio or large print.
Braille or large print greetings can be produced to attach to Christmas and greetings cards for visually impaired family and friends.
Large print and talking books in cassette, CD and MP3 are available to borrow free of charge from all Doncaster libraries. eAudio & eBooks books can also be downloaded from our digital libraries.
We have two Visually Impaired Readers Groups. One meets every second Tuesday in the Central Library from 1.30-3.00pm. The morning group meets bimonthly on the third Wednesday at 10.30am. Books are loaned on CD. Join us for refreshments and a chat.
