Joining the Library and Membership Information

This area of the website contains information on what services are provided by the library service, how to become a library member and the benefits of being a member.

Library Membership Application Form

You can download and print the library membership form attached to this page take it to your local library and become a full library member.

You can also complete our online form. By joining online you will receive a temporary membership number that you can start using straight away with some of our online services such as requesting items to pick up later. Please make a note of the membership number that is generated. You can bring this number with you to borrow two books, one audio item, and one DVD from your local library.

Once completed you can then pop in to your local library to collect your library card. All you have to do is complete the form below:

How to join the Library

Adults

To borrow books, CDs, DVDs and other materials from any of the libraries in Doncaster you will need to complete a membership application form (available to download on this page) and you will need to bring proof of identity with you to the library, which must show your full name and address. You will then become a full member and be issued with a membership card which enables you to borrow items or use the computer terminals.

If you have no proof of name and address with you, you will be given an Internet Plus membership which will allow you to borrow only 2 books and to access the computer terminals for 30 minutes per day. We will then ask you to bring in some form of ID and when you return to the library with the ID we will upgrade you to full membership.

Children and Teenagers

Under 16s need to ask a parent, guardian or carer to complete a form on their behalf and provide proof of identification showing name and address.

- Medical card
- Current drivers license
- Pension book
- Child Benefit book
- Council rent book
- Official letter - for example, a recent telephone, gas, water, electricity bill.
- Any other official document providing that it has both your name and address.

Please ask the library staff if you have any questions about joining the library.

You can access your own membership records any time, anywhere via the Library website, look for the login box at the top right side of this website. Just ask the staff for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) which you will need to enter, together with your personal barcode number on your membership card.
