Doncaster Libraries work in partnership with Bookstart, and assists in the delivery of all Bookstart packs around Doncaster. The Bookstart packs are:

BOOKSTART BABY PACK

This pack is gifted to children 0-12 months. Your Health Visitor or another health professional will gift this bag during your baby's first year. The pack will include a book, a rhyme sheet and tips and ideas for sharing books.

BOOKSTART TREASURE PACK

When your child is aged 3-4 they will receive their special treasure pack from their nursery, children's center or other early years setting. It will include a picture book for sharing, plus a booklet with tips and ideas for reading together.

OTHER PACKS

Dual language books can be added to the above packs so that you can keep your home language alive by sharing stories, books, and rhymes with your child. Bookshine packs are available for children who are deaf and Booktouch packs are for children with visual impairment.
Bookstart Star packs are for children with conditions affecting their fine motor skills.

Join the Bookstart Bear Club

All our libraries offer the Bookstart Bear Club. You can sign up and get rewards when you share stories, books, and rhymes. It is a fun and free membership scheme for all babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. Your child will receive a stamp each time they take part in an activity or borrow a book and they will receive a celebratory certificate for every 6 stamps they collect.

Please ask today at your local library about Bookstart and also storytimes that are happening in our libraries.
