A hit! All bar one of our group rates this book 7.5-9 on the scale. There was plenty to discuss - topics from motherhood to the meaning of Christianity, the Cathedral's centrality to Greek myths. We thought the characters were well-drawn and memorable, with a nice balance of good and not so nice. Agnes was seen by some as saintly, whilst others felt she had to atone for her past. The redemption/forgiveness theme is central to the novel but the reader is left to decide and what to believe. Definiteley recommend this title and her previous books.
