London : Headline Review, 2016
The latest by Victoria Hislop as usual set in Greece. Ellie living in London receives a series of postcards from all over Greece intended for the previous occupant. She becomes fascinated with the places and decides to take a holiday to see them all for herself. On the day of departure a journal arrives, a cathartic chronicle of the end of the senders relationship. Each place he travels has a Greek legend/myth associated with it. Frankly I got bored, I was more interested in knowing more about Ellie and her journey. I have to admit to skipping the last few stories to read the end when it reverts back to Ellie's story, (should have been several chapters sooner). Does she track down the author of the journal? read and find out. Unfortunately underwhelmed, IMHO VH has never quite lived up to her first The Island which is by far my favourite.
