Reviews:
I enjoyed reading this book, probably helped by my lifelong fascination with birds. The subject of coping with deep grief/loss by training a Goshawk (noted for being one of the most difficult birds of prey to train) was, I found, an interesting one. I guess the message is that in a state of grief one has to focus on doing something(s) so as not be all consumed by it. In that way one gradually comes to terms with the loss ('getting over it' is completely the wrong phrase & is quite different, albeit subtly, from coming to terms). I'm not sure I quite understood the point of including references & extracts from another book about training (badly) a Goshawk.
