This year it’s all about funny books, happiness and having a laugh! The Silly Squad is a team of animal friends who love to go on adventures and get stuck into all different kinds of funny books.
You can join the Silly Squad on a new adventure by setting your own personal reading challenge to complete this summer. Our new online platform will help you keep track of your books, reviews, and the rewards you unlock along the way.
As always, we’ll have loads of brilliant book suggestions to get you started, and tips on how you can keep reading even while schools and libraries are closed. We’ll also have heaps of super silly activities, quizzes, videos, games, and more to keep you entertained at home!
Silly Squad officially begins on Friday 5 June 2020! Head over to Facebook to join in the virtual launch and to keep posted on all the silly goings-on!

- Children can read books of their own choice during the summer, as libraries are closed at the moment, they can access a fantastic range of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and comics online for FREE.
- Head over to www.sillysquad.org.uk where children can create a free account to take part in the digital Challenge. This is a simple process and requires approval by an adult (via email).
- This year children can set their own reading goals on the Silly Squad website, adding any books read to their profile. They can then collect rewards and Badges every time they read a book and build on their goal!
