Pack your bags, we’re headed for Wilderville!
The Reading Agency has teaming up with WWF for a very special nature-themed Challenge that will inspire you to stand up for the planet!
This year, the Summer Reading Challenge takes place in Wilderville, where our young heroes live. Wilderville is a pretty cool place but our heroes have been noticing some problems. Helped by their trusted animal companions, they’re to take action to save the natural world!
Can you be a Wild World Hero?
To be a Wild World Hero this summer, all you need to do is visit your local library, borrow some books and get reading. You can read anything you like – stories, poetry, fact books, comics or listen to audiobooks – its up to you!
When you visit the library, you will be given a poster and stickers (look out for the smelly stickers!) and each time you finish a book you will be able to use your one of your stickers to complete your posters. These wild stickers will fix the environmental problem in each area and make Wilderville a better home for everyone. You can also keep tack of the books you have read on this poster and give them a rating.
Come back to the library and let us know what you have been reading to receive your certificate and a really wild prize.
The Summer Reading Challenge starts on Monday 19th July until the 4th September 2021. The Challenge is for children aged 4 to 11 and encourages them to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays, providing lots of fun as well as helping to prevent the summer reading ‘dip’. Each year the Challenge motivates over 700,000 children to keep reading to build their skills and confidence
